About
My work is based on the experimentation of colour play and mark making, whilst keeping true to the subject.
I achieve this by continually building colour layers using my hands, fingers and small objects such as the backs of wooden brushes.
I am not restricted by any preconceived colour palette, by using multiple layers of paint and different movements this builds up the tactile depth of the painting, making each piece unique in composition.
With each painting I do, my artistic judgement is tested and I have to consider having captured the reality of the subject, whether to stop or continue working on the painting, which results in each piece being a true original.
My aim is for you the viewer to want to touch and run your hands over the painting and I invite you to do this in order to understand the process of the final piece.
